What is Invisalign?

The first thing that you will want to know about this treatment is what it actually is. Invisalign is aimed at people who are struggling with mild or less severe cases of misalignment, and it can really make a difference when straightening your teeth. This is done with the use of clear, plastic aligners, which are a similar shape to a mouth guard. They will be custom-made just for you, meaning that they will fit nice and snug to your teeth to increase comfort.

What’s the process?

If you’re thinking about getting Invisalign and you book an appointment with our orthodontist Liverpool, they will first have a consultation with you which involves examining your teeth and taking various 3D scans. These scans will then be sent off to aid in the creation of your aligners.

We will provide you with multiple aligners at a time, and you can change between them from the comfort of your own home, usually around every 2 weeks. The aligners are easily removed, which is great when it comes to changing them, cleaning them, and eating. We recommend that you wear your aligners for around 20 hours a day to get the full effect.

Once you have completed the treatment and are enjoying your straighter smile, our orthodontist Liverpool will provide you with a retainer. We highly recommend that you use this every night, as it stops your teeth from moving back to their original positions.

How long does it take?

The total treatment time for Invisalign varies depending on individual needs, but the average is between 6-18 months. During this time, you will only need to visit us every 6-8 weeks for an appointment, which allows us to check up on your progress and give you more aligners when needed.

How do I keep up good oral hygiene?

You may be wondering how you clean your teeth and aligners when you have Invisalign, and it’s very simple. When it comes to brushing your teeth, you can simply remove the aligners, brush and floss as you normally would, and pop them back. And when you clean the aligners, all you need to do is brush them with your toothbrush and give them a rinse in cool water.

Why should I get Invisalign?

There are so many reasons why our patients choose Invisalign, and the one that stands out the most is the appearance of the aligners. Due to the thin, clear plastic material used, they are barely visible to others. This is great if you have a social lifestyle or professional career and don’t want to draw any unwanted attention to your teeth.
