Easier than you think

Getting your teeth straightened with braces is easier than you think. In fact, you may not need a trained orthodontist in Liverpool if your only problems are a question of aligning the teeth.

If you have made it through to adulthood without a dentist suggesting that you need to get your jaws aligned or widened with treatment on the NHS then you probably have mild to moderate teeth alignment issues and can probably be treated by a general dentist who has been accredited in various modern teeth straightening systems, rather than an actual orthodontist in Liverpool.

Orthodontist in LiverpoolHere at Liverpool Smile Studio, our practice principal Dr Janine McGinty is an experienced accredited practitioner in four systems that work really well for mild to moderate alignments issues.

Invisalign

These are not braces but clear aligners that look like super-thin, transparent mouth guards. But they have a twist: inside each aligner are carefully placed and shaped pressure points. They press on the teeth gently and after 72 hours of such pressure, the jawbone responds by dissolving bone tissue in front of the direction of pressure and building it up again on the other side of the tooth. You have to wear your aligners for 20-22 hours a day to keep up this pressure, otherwise that 72 hours has to start all over again. But the fact that you can remove these aligners, and that they are pretty much impossible to spot, makes them very popular with our adult patients.
