Braces for today’s teeth

Dentistry is a fast and ever-evolving area for researchers, and one area that has greatly changed in recent years is teeth straightening. What this means for you as a patient of Liverpool Smile Studio is a wide range of braces in Liverpool. You can find the right braces in Liverpool for your alignment issues, your lifestyle and your budget. So, if you have been living unhappily with wonky teeth, now is the time to set them straight.

These braces in Liverpool are brackets and wires cemented to your teeth. They are the new generation of braces that you will recognise from all those kids’ movies made in the 1980s, when young lads tore around on bikes saving people from dodgy criminals and monsters. Those braces are associated with the awkwardness of being a pre-teen and being picked on in American high schools for being nerdy.

Modern bracket and wire braces aren’t like that. They all feature much smaller brackets and finer wires, so people can see your teeth and not just a face full of metal. Some brands even use clear ceramic brackets and fine tooth-coloured wires, so the braces blend in with your teeth. The forces used are much gentle and if the straightening is focussed on the front teeth only, treatment times can be a matter of months rather than years.

Clear aligners

These use mouth guard-style aligner trays that come out for eating and cleaning your teeth. Instead of the straightening being done by wires that pull your teeth into position, they use a series of incrementally different aligners. Each one has carefully positioned pressure points inside it which press gently on the teeth to shift them along the path to alignment. Great for mild to moderate alignment issues, clear aligners take about a year to do their work.

Removable aligners

These aligners use two bows that sandwich the front teeth to manoeuvre them into position. These removable aligners work on the front teeth only and treatment can sometimes be completed in only a few weeks.

All braces in Liverpool require you to wear a retainer afterwards to make sure the teeth settle into their new positions.
