Using veneers to create your perfect smile

Veneers are an excellent way for a dentist to quickly make over your smile. At Liverpool Smile Studio we can use a single veneer to improve the appearance of one tooth (for example, if it is permanently stained or discoloured, or has a small chip or crack) or a full set to create a complete smile makeover.

porcelain-veneersOne of the key points to remember about veneers is that they require very little preparatory work on your teeth – all your dentist needs to do is to remove a very small amount of enamel to aid with the bonding process. That means the healthy tooth structure beneath the veneer is preserved, unlike some other procedures such as cosmetic crowns, where more extensive work is required.

Many patients only require two appointments at our Liverpool dental practice for this procedure, although if you opt for a complete smile makeover you will need between three and four appointments to enable your dentist to create the perfect smile for you.

The veneers used at Liverpool Smile Studio are designed for three things:

  • Aesthetic beauty
  • Natural appearance
  • Longevity

With a good oral health routine at home and regular visits to your dental practice, your veneers should last you for more than ten years. Your dentist will ensure that while they create a noticeable difference to your smile, they will also look completely natural.

Liverpool veneers: the treatment process

First you will come into our Liverpool practice for a cosmetic consultation. To ensure your veneers bond firmly with your teeth, your dentist will remove a very small amount of enamel from each tooth’s surface, under either local anaesthetic or sedation.

Each veneer will be made to the exact same thickness as the amount of enamel removed, for a completely natural appearance. The only exception is if a tooth is cracked or chipped – in this case, the veneer will be made thicker to cover the damaged area.

Your dentist will take impressions of your teeth and when your veneers are ready you will be called back to our Liverpool clinic to have them fitted. Strong bonding agent holds them in place.
