Veneers: how do they work?

Dental laminates provide a very comprehensive and radical alteration in the appearance of your teeth, so you can gain a flawless finish with little to no invasive work using veneers Liverpool. Let’s find out how!

Porcelain laminates

It is quite amazing how these thin wafers of porcelain, blended with a range of polymers to increase their toughness, can have such a radical effect on our appearance and the way we see ourselves. Not to mention how we interact with others.

Application of veneers Liverpool may seem like a drastic step, especially if your teeth are not suffering with some radical change in their appearance like extensive reconstruction after trauma. But, more often than not, the daily wear and tear, fillings, worn surfaces and chipped edges reduce the quality of our teeth, eroding their aesthetic charm. This change is often so gradual it is unperceived. So when veneers are used by our dentist at the Liverpool Smile Studio to produce a healthy appearance, the results can seem transformative.

Treatment schedule

Veneers Liverpool are a multi-visit treatment, during the first visit measurements are taken and the aesthetic goals are set; during the second the laminates are permanently attached to the teeth.

Measuring and preparation

When porcelain laminates are produced, their dimensions are always slightly oversized; this allows final fitting and customising to occur in a clinic. The most important factor is to tailor the specifications to the patient’s needs. Laminates can be used restoratively to bring one’s tooth appearance in line with the rest of a smile, or a full set of veneers can be used to bring about an entirely new appearance. In the first case, making your veneers match the natural enamel of surrounding teeth is critical, in the second the veneers have to be matching with one another.

Fitting and finishing

After fabrication, the laminates are sent to our clinic and fitting can be booked. When fitting, the fronts of the teeth are prepared by creating a textured surface for the dental adhesive to bond the porcelain wafer in place. Our dentist may place the wafer over the tooth and will probably need to trim the veneer several times as it is gradually brought down to size.

Maintenance and longevity

Getting the most out of their treatment is a priority for most patients. Thankfully with good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, veneers last on average 10 years. For those with particularly athletic or high activity lifestyles, debonding (where the laminate comes away from the tooth) is far more common than the wafer itself becoming damaged. In which case, returning to the clinic with the prosthetic allows us to reattach it with minimal fuss and cost!

Cost and financing

We know that cost can limit choice and we want to minimise this as much as possible. In our clinic we offer a range of interest free payment plans and allow costs to be spread out, easing personal finances and helping you with your daily cash flow.

You have to be over 21 to apply for a payment plan. It can be started online with a credit application. If you require further assistance, please feel free to contact the clinic and our reception staff will be happy to guide you through the process.
